Suggest Treatment For Cough And Cold During 30 Weeks Of Pregnancy

Question: Hello,

I am 30 weeks pregnant and suffering with continuous cough and cold since 7 weeks. I have been prescribed defcort for 6 days, but was pushing starting it thinking of the side effects. But the cough is just not going away. Should I start it now or wait for some more time?

- It is a glucocorticoid usually safe to use during pregnancy.
- It is used in preterm labor- for fetal lung maturity.
- It is a FDA class -d category drug.
- In my opinion it is not a side effect of defcort.
-It is due to cough for long time- causing pressure on uterus and abdomen.
- Consult your treating doctor for treatment modification.
- Consult your gynaecologist for pelvic examination to see - are you going in preterm labor or not.
- drink a lot of water
- Steam inhalation.
- You should take cough suppressant syp.
