Supplements for arthritis

Good evening

thank you for writing on health care magic

Well, none of the juices has been proven any useful in arthritis. But the arthritis is due to many reasons...I am not sure which has been your final diagnosis.

If it is due to Osteoarthritis( degeneration of joints), there has been good role of Avocados and Ginger in the juice...Supple juice is known to contain Chondrotin, Glucosamine which we even supplement in tablets..On personal experience, PAtients do report improvement with it but if you ask for recommendations, it is not recommended..

Moreover nothing beats exercises , avoiding stress posture and weight reduction in Osteoarthritis.

But these juices got no role in Rheumatoid/Lupus Arthritis..

As such, you can try it but it is a bit on the expensive side...And dont expect the joint spaces will return to normal...

Hope the information was useful

My diagnosis was neck arthritis. I was given meloxicam 10 mg tablet samples but they made me dizzy. My doctor also gave me tizanidine 4mg and hydroco 325. I didn't like how the meloxicam made me feel.

Well the neck arthritis, was it attributed to age related changes or some inflammation....I really doubt it is inflammation as it wouldnt have been limited to your neck only..

Try cutting down on pain killers...and maybe Start on Yoga...Yoga does help in muscle stregnthning for the neck and you will feel better..Avoid using pillows for sleeping and minimum use of smart phones and laptops. Even if you have to use, make sure you keep them infront of your eyes , so you dont have to bend down too much for it..

medications are not so useful in these conditions and you dont want to experience unneccesary side effects..

Saw nurse practicener on today my doctor was out. I have been getting treated for neck and shoulder pain. I went back in because they perscribed me meloxicam 10 mg but I felt real groggy and light headed after taking it. She perscribed me indomethacin 25 mg cap 1 every 8 hours. She wants me to try this. My xrays showed bursitis and inflammation when she reviews them. How soon should it be when I see results. Is it any terrible side effects with this. I also got a cortisone shot. They usually relieve me for a couple days.

Sorry for the delayed reply..Had a long day

Well, I would like you to go off painkillers...Indomethacin is equally harmful to your stomach and kidneys as much as meloxicam...I would like you to minimize the dosage and use as much as you can.

I feel we really need to be sure what sort of arthritis are we treating in your case, as there will always be a dilemma on how long to give these strong pain killers and when to remove it off.

As for the bursitis, I would suggest you take a local injection of cortisone into the bursa as the painkillers take a much longer time..An ultrasound would be a better modality to determine how bad it is and you can even take an injection under ultrasound guidance.

Try tyelnol for pain relief with intermittent use of indomethacin if it works...Also go for physiotherapy..It will benefit you better

I'm not taking the pain killers . She told me to try the indomethacin. I only took one yesterday and 1 at lunch today. I was going to try one a day. I just feel a little dizzy and slight headache but read it was a comman side effect. Will one a day be enough. I also got a cortisone shot yesterday to.

Brief Answer:
Indomethacin

Detailed Answer:
Good evening

Oh no no, indomethacin is a pain killer only..All these belong to COX 1 inhibitors( NSAIDS Class). Yeah I would suggest once a day...And if needed tyelenol in between. Do take some antacid( Rantidine or pantoprazole) along with it.

Since you took cortisone shot, it should have it s effect within 48 hours...SO we will know how useful it has been... But yes physiotherapy is a must...IT will help us in the long run to prevent it from relapsing

I hope you get better soon

Brief Answer:
Neck pain

Detailed Answer:
Good evening

Well, the headache can be because of radiation from the neck itself. Once the neck pressure eases off, it should get better as well

Try sleeping without pillows in the night...It would help more...

I wish you speedy recovery
