Brief Answer:
How severe is this? Is it just liquid stool or even hard stool?

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this leaky bowel. At your age, the most common cause of this is a weakened anal sphincter. I think this would XXXXXXX the reason why. This is more common in women who have several babies and those who had big baits weighing more than 4kilograms.

The ultimate solution this is surgery. However, surgery would not be easily considered at your age because of the risk involved. The best way to manage it would be to try and see how you can always manage to empty the bowels before they leak out. For this, you would need to eat enough fiber to keep the stool always semi-solid if not solid. Also, have a regular schedule to empty the bowels like every 3/4hours so that the bowels can always be empty. Above all, always have a pad so that it can prevent any leaks from soiling the dress. If you have any watery stools, that would need to be addressed very quickly in order to avoid worsening the leaky bowels.

Another procedure to help strengthen the sphincter is called kegel exercises. This entails strengthening the muscles around the anus through exercises so that they can reinforce the closing pressure. I will recommend you ask your doctor about this as it requires that you be trained by a nurse on this.

I hop ethos helps. I wish you well. Thanks for using our services and feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be. If there are specific issues you want me to touch on, let me know and I would address them.
