Question: Since last 2 months I am suffering from breathing issues almost on a daily basis. I feel heaviness in the chest sometimes tightness also. Breathing is not light deep. Past 20 days I am on ilaprazole and domperidone 10 mg 3 times doze. This is not recovering though there is slight iimprovement. During endoscopy I was diagnosed with h pyroli infection and gerd.my pft reports are attached. I dont hsve prominant gerd symtoms like heart burn. Only sometime i feel difficuly in swallong muscles become tight that i find difficulty in swalloing.During my examination doctor said chest is clear. My x ray is also normal. My queries are is diagnosis of gerd right or I might be suffering from some respiratory issues or asthma. How long usually gerd takes to recover. Can this breathing issues lead to emergency. Kindly suggest what should I do.

Brief Answer:
you need better control of GERD .

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX Thanks for your question on HCM. I want to know Your age first.
Since you have diagnosed with GERD and already on GERD drugs and symptoms are not well controlled with it, I think it is GERD related breathing problem.
I advice following steps for better control of GERD in my patients.Hope it will work in your case.
1. Avoid heavy meals, instead take frequent small meals.
2. Avoid hot and spicy food.
3. Avoid stress and tension.
4. Take prokinetic drug levosulperide along with current GERD medicines.
5. Go for walk after meals.
6. Keep 2-3 pillows under your head in bed.
I also advice few blood investigations as PFT seems ok, so I am not thinking of any pulmonary cause right now.
1. CBC for Hb level. As anaemia can cause breathing problems with tightness and heaviness in chest.
2. S.TSH level as thyroid problems also cause similar symptoms.
Hope I have answered your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.

Brief Answer:
No need to worry about emergency.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX glad to receive feedback from you.
No need to worry about emergency due to this breathing problem. So be relax and keep calm.
And GERD is controllable disease. Modify your lifestyle and gradually stop drugs. If you continue diet modification and follow advice given my me, I think you will not need any antacids.
And you can take antacids on SOS basis.
Hope I have solved your query. If you feel that I have cleared all your questions, I request you to close the answer and rate the answer.
