Suggest Remedy For Nausea And Headaches

default
Posted on Tue, 11 Aug 2015
Question: I just stood up and passed a huge blood clot (jelly-like) larger than my thumb. I'm now a bit nausious and have a headache. I've been having a very unusually heavy period this month and have passed clots multiple times. I just had my first infertility IUI this month. Could that be causing the clotting and change in my period? Or is something else going on that I should look into?

Brief Answer:
Please furnish some more information

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. Irregular bleeding is not a side effect of either letrozol or hCG injection. It is very unusual if you are having such irregular bleeding in this IUI cycle. This can be due to other hormonal drugs which you might be taking or due to implantation bleeding.
I would like to have the information regarding your date of last menstrual period and the date of IUI so that I can further reach to a diagnosis.
Please do get back to me with the information, if feasible.
Wishing you good health.
Regards,
Dr Deepti Verma

My period prior to my IUI started on XXXXXXX 22. My IUI was on July 7. My period this month started July 20. I am not taking any other hormonal drugs.

Brief Answer:
Likely due to increased endometrial thickness

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear, thanks for responding.Letrozole leads to ovulation induction and leads to increased endometrial growth. This increased thickness of endometrium presents as heavy flow during the menstruation.
However, I would suggest to do a urine pregnancy test to rule out any pregnancy or abortion. If it is negative, then it is likely due to ovulation induction. If you are still passing clots, then you can take tranexemic acid 500 mg twice a day to decrease the bleeding. You should get a ultrasound done to assess the endometrial thickness and any other pathology in the uterus.
Hope you found the answer helpful. Please do get back for further queries.
Wishing you good health.
Regards,
Dr Deepti Verma.
