Brief Answer:
It needs slow start, 100 mg is too high as a starting dose

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for using Healthcaremagic.

from the available description it appears that you had a relapse of depression following discontinuation of serlift (sertraline) which was keeping your depression under control.

Since you started the higher dose you have experienced the side effects in form of palpitations. 100 mg is too high for a 46 year old diabetic and hypertensive to start.

The recommended dose to start is 25 mg per day followed by 50 mg after three days and 75 mg after another three days and than 100 mg after two weeks from start of treatment.

In addition over the time there may be some physiological and pathological changes which need examination by a doctor. For doing same you are requested to see your psychiatrist before intending to take even 25 mg.

I hope this helps you.
Thanks and regards
