Question: In December I was hospitaled due to not being able to eat or sleep and having no energy. Barely able to function. Was diagnosed with psoriasis of the liver. Was given 2 blood transfusions fluids and ran several tests. While in hospital developed C Diff. Kept me there 6 days and then released me. At the time I was out of state so came home. Once I got here seemed to get worse and ended in hospital again. My stomach had swollen so much I had to be drained twice. Still have C Diff so continued medication. Also developed a urinary tract infection. Sent me home but I have no appetite and absolutely no energy. Also can't sleep. Feel like I have been through every test possible and don't know what to do! Also have had no alcohol since Dec 23

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome and thanks for your query.
I understand your concern.
You have cirrhosis of the liver, probably alcohol is the cause. The swelling of abdomen is due to collection of fluid in the peritoneal cavity (ascites ). The sleep disturbance, lack of energy, fluctuations in mood and sensorium are due to ammonia which is not metabolised by the liver. At this stage you should restrict, protein and fluids, avoid constipation and sedative medications even OTC antihistamines etc.
Take thiamine and other B vitamins as there's likely to be deficiency of these.
If you remain off alcohol, condition would improve with time as liver has good regenerative capacity.
Take care,
