Question: Hi Dr. Kakkar,

Do we have any facewash/skin cream, which could whiten the skin color.

One of my close friend suggested me to use Melalite Forte.

I want to know the following things:

1. Any Face wash/ Skin Cream to whiten/Glow the skin color.
2. How Effective is Melalite Forte.
3. What should be the dosage.
4. Duration to expect the effect and change in color.
5. How about Calamine lotion.

It would be really appreciated if the responses are inline

Thanks,
XXXX

Brief Answer:
Face wash and skin lightening cream

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to healthcaremagic.

You may use either Rejuglow face wash Or AHA Glow face wash twice daily.
In addition you may use Rejuglow C 20 cream once daily at night.
Avoid Melalite forte. It is steroid based cream. Though it would improve tone initially but it would be harmful in the long run.
Calamine is just a soothing lotion plus it also acts as a mild sunscreen. You may rather use a broad spectrum sunscreen e.g Sunscros Soft Gel sunscreen (Zinc Oxide 25%) during the day which would complement treatment with skin lightening cream and face wash.

Can we use it after giving a gap after a month to avoid its harmful effect.

If yes, what should be the gap maintained.

How should we use this cream. Dialy once or twice. Morning or before sleep. Can we go out after application and so on.

Brief Answer:
I would not suggest you to use this cream

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

This cream should not be used as a general fairness cream. Should be used only when indicated e.g melasma and with proper follow up. When indicated it can be used only once daily at night along with synscreen throughout the day. It can cause side effects like acne, skin thinning, photosensitivity even after a month of use.
