Have Sjogrens And Dry Eye And Photosensivity Due To Lupus. On Restates For Dry Eyes. Should I Be Worried?

I have sjogrens and dry eye. I also have Lupus which has caused me to have photosensitivity. Lately though at night while still awake, I can hardly get relief from any light, even with my eyes closed, I am bothered by light, I squint and then get a headache. While asleep I see colors of light, of which make designs. It s is very similar to the hallucinations I had once in the hospital while on strong pain medication. I am on restates for dry eye. What is going on? Should I be worried?

Hello,
All the symptoms of photo sensitivity is due to the Ultra Violet ray in light either Sunlight or Artificial light.
Dry eye adds the fuel to the fire as you have sjogrens syndrome.
Thus our aim is to cut off the UV rays as much as possible from both the sources.
1. Avoid sunlight exposure as much as you can.
2. Plan your work in early morning or evening
3. Try to spend most of the times in shade.
4. Use low UV emitting light bulbs.
5. Use hydroxycellulose drops for dry eyes regularly.

Hope this helps.

Wishing you good health.
