Question: What kind of products can I use to make my hair thick, strong and luscious?
What kind of foods should I actively eat to keep my BP under control? I already avoid eating too much salt, refined oils and processed or outside foods.
What kind of foods does Ayurveda recommend to build lean muscle?

Thanks for contacting Ayurveda with your health concern and following are recommended guidelines for you:

A. Regarding hair prophylaxis

i.  Avoid too much exposure to sun
ii. Avoid high extremes of temperature such as used in hair straightening devices.
iii. After bath make sure you avoid vigorous toweling of hair, let them dry naturally.
iv. Make less choice for synthetic hair oils, hair coloring, bleaching, styling and use of dry blowers.
v. Avoid excessive exposure to sun, heat, wind, dust, anger, stress, anxiety,
vi. Avoid oily, fried, spicy, hot, fermented and stale food.
vii. Proteins are essential for antibodies production so milk, egg (white), beans, yogurt, soymilk, pumpkin, squash, watermelon,peanuts,almonds, if non-vegetarian (meat) are choices
viii. Mango, carrots, cantaloupe, egg yolk, apricots, pumpkin, papaya, are ideal
ix.Vitamin C: is needed for proper functioning of immune system: amla is good option.
x. Vitamin E: is a powerful anti oxidant thus peanuts, dried apricots, cooked spinach, taro root can be taken
xi. Soap nut (reetha) and shikakai along with Bhringraj and Neelini oil acts as natural conditioner and XXXXXXX you can use it safely.
xii. Vitamin B1 and B2, Omega-6 and Zinc, magnesium, biotin are very effective so make sure they are a part of regular vitamin intake, apple cider vinegar, Olive Oil or Coconut Oil, raw aloe vera juice can be applied directly to scalp.

B. Since risk factors are present at a very young age thus you should check regularly with a Cardiologist and also check with your blood sugar and thyroid profile, regarding management of blood pressure:

take: old brown rice,milk,black grapes, papaya,pomegranate,banana,orange, green gram,chick pea,spinach,green vegetables, light diet,bottle gourd,lukewarm water.

avoid: salt (chips,namkeen,papad,sauce, chutney,popcorn),sweets,curd,spices, dry fruits,egg,meat,heavy/slimy food,cold water, excess anger-grief,exertion.

PS. Add 1 spoon smashed fenugreek seeds and boil in 4 cups water till 1 cup remain. Filter it and add 4 spoon honey and drink for 1 month.

C. Regarding lean mass do let me know is it mild/moderate or gross weight loss?

thank you. regarding my last question, I am interested in knowing what should I eat to gain muscles? I am not looking for weight loss, rather I am looking at gaining muscle weight.

Thanks for reverting back

- Tonics and injections alone are not enough to help build the body mass, good food and exercise must accompany the medicines for a substantial gain in weight.

A. Before starting medicine following guidelines  should be incorporated in your daily lifestyle

i. Make powder of raw XXXXXXX seed and take 250mg with yogurt or water empty stomach in morning for three days and start practicing Yogasanas, [of your choice]  and Surya-namaskar

ii. Avoid: heavy, slimy food along with fetid odor and unpleasant sight and TAKE old brown rice , green gram, fresh green vegetables, banana, pomegranate, garlic, ginger, raisins, black pepper, clarified butter, butter milk, with regular brushing of teeth and tongue cleaning, bathing, lemon,salt, mint,morning walk.

iii. Eat a variety of nutrient rich food but who have some added advantage like:

. Cabbage (cholesterol lowering benefits),
. carrot (helps in liver detoxification),
. cauliflower (ideal against abdominal problems),
. dates (best for muscle development), and onions (contains flavinoids which protect against cardiovascular disease), garlic (has broad spectrum antibiotic properties)

iv. Take protein rich diet :legumes, sprouted pulses/cereals, milk with protein

v. Take vitamin A, B, C, E in diet which helps in strengthening the immune system.

 B. Take self expressed juice of white onion 6ml with honey in morning and good sleep after meals. [In Ayurveda we hold that, people when doing everything right, takes SLEEP regularly and that too after food he becomes FAT, so have a good stress free sleep after meals to gain weight].

C. Principle is to have well balanced diet with more of proteins and more Calories with exercise, take more of cereals, legumes, daal, egg, and eat fresh fruits regularly with sweet pulp like (banana, XXXXXXX chickoos, and grapes)

D. Take banana, black grapes,orange, spinach,ginger,tomatoes, curd, take diet rich in vitamin C (Citrus fruits) and vitamin E (sunflower seeds, almonds,apricots, peanuts) which are rich in anti oxidants and thus helps in improvement of Thymus function  (associated with Immunity.)

E.  Eat mixture of amla powder ½ spoons with 4 spoons of honey.

 DAILY REGIME:
i. Don’t skip breakfast: take your lunch between 12 -1 PM which is the peak period of Pitta (responsible for digestion) and have your dinner 2 hours before sleeping.

ii. Make sure you do not travel, do strenuous exercise, or indulge in sexual activities within one hour after meal

iii. Proper sleep with proper diet is the key to healthy living in Ayurveda.

iv. Avoid smoking, alcohol, caffeine, eating late at night, stress, and drink water instead of colas.

v. Practice Yoga, Meditation and go for an exercise regime..

vi. Walk a while after meal to help digestion.
