I think I have low progesterone.. what should I do?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Som Biswas (2 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
Get it tested.

Detailed Answer:
Dear,

It is not low progesterone but low estrogen that causes vaginal dryness.

But still if you think if you have low progesterone then you should get it checked.

If it is really low then we can start you on micronised progesterone tablets.

Brief Answer:
PCOS women have HIGH estrogen

Detailed Answer:
Dear,

PCOS is a complex disease. it's not just low and high.

PCOS women have HIGH estrogen but that does not mean your progesterone has to be low..it might or might not be in different women ..also the amount of deficiency differs in different women and so the symptoms also vary.

I told you the commonest cause of vaginal dryness, which is low estrogen. In your case, it's a side effect of XXXXXXX as you said. Causes of vaginal dryness can be many.

The best thing is to get the hormones (estrogen and progesterone) checked before starting any different medicine because it tells you where you started from and whether medicines are causing an improvement.

Your doctor is right and so am I.

Feel free to ask any more clarifications if you need

so when is the right time to check my hormones? bcoz nov 20 I had menstration and I take only 5 pcs of althea pills.. because I cant take the side effect of althea.. so I stop it.. I feel bloated and having shortness of breath.. so I stop it.. and yesterday I bleed again.. I dont know if this is menstration again.. its not so heavy but until now I still bleed.. and to mention.. aug 2014 I had ectopic pregnancy so I had operation.. and my doc said I should be on pills in few months.. so I take diane 35 on sept but I gain so much weight I think.. so I switched in XXXXXXX on oct.. but im so dry.. thats y I tried again althea which is my pills 2 yrs a go.. I just stop the althea b4 because we decided to make a baby.. but unfortunately its ectopic.. so now im still afraid to get pregnant.. thats y I really want to take pills or if not taking pills I want my hormone to be balance..

Brief Answer:
Do at day 9 after menses

Detailed Answer:
Dear,

If hormonal pills are giving you side effects then do not take any of them. The bleeding after taking althea could be withdrawal bleed.

In your scenario having a baby naturally will be difficult as you had an ectopic pregnancy in past.

I suggest you to not to take any pills. If you are overweight, try to lose weight.

For pregnancy you can go for IUI OR IVF procedures after 6 months of the ectopic pregnancy.

And test for hormones can be done at day 9 after normal menses, so you have to stop all pills and wait for normal menses and then get your tests done on day 9.
