Question: Hello Doctor,

My wife is carrying and we are expecting our second baby in early November. Our first baby is 6.5 years old and was born though C Section. Wanted to check if there are some exercises or medicine for a normal/natural delivery in place of C Section.

Kind Regards

Brief Answer:
need more information

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to healthcaremagic.I understand your concern.
In case if there are no complications in this pregnancy and the pelvis is adequate the normal delivery can be tried.
For better suggestions I would like to know:-
1) what was the indication of caesarian section previously?
2)Any complications in this pregnancy?
3)What is the height of your wife?
Kindly let me know the above things.
Looking forward to hear from you.
Best regards...Dr.Srilatha

Thanks Doctor for a quick revert.

The answer of your questions are as follows
1) In the previous delivery, she had closed her due date by almost a week's time and the doctor then had mentioned that the water inside (don't know the technical name) is drying up so we need to do a C-section. She also took a medicine to initiate the labour pains but it did not help
2) There are no issues in this pregnancy but she had two miscarriages last year (Between the first delivery and the this pregnancy)
3) The height of my wife is 5ft 3 inch

Kind Regards

Brief Answer:
Continuous monitoring during the labour is needed

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, thanks for the information.I understand your concern.
In my opinion the past caesarian section is not a absolute contraindication for normal delivery.
Caesarian section is preferred if :-
1)Any medical complication in mother effecting the fetal growth
2)If baby weight is not adequate for the pelvis size .ie.,cephalopelvic disproportion.
As you dont have any complications and if pelvis is adequate the labour can be tried.
The normal delivery after caesarian section is called VBAC(Vaginal birth after caesarian section).
The important thing with past section is the integrity of scar on the uterus due to previous surgery.
Sometimes it might rupture leading to bleeding and fetal complications.
So during the labour the scar integrity and fetal condition needs to be continuously monitored .
If everything goes well and labour progression occurs the normal delivery might be possible.
There is no specific diet for normal delivery.Take healthy nutritional diet and walking and antenatal exercises to strengthen the pelvic floor help to some extent.
Hope this satisfies your query.
Feel free to discuss furthur.

Brief Answer:
observe fetal movements

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,I got your query.I understand your concern.
In my opinion the below things might be followed for good outcome of pregnancy:-
1)Lie down in left or right lateral position for good blood supply to fetus.
2)Take adequate fluids upto 3 litres per day.Because dehydration might provoke preterm pains.
3)Observe fetal movements daily.Atleast 10 fetal movements in a 12 hour period is supposed to be normal.
4)Take healthy nutritional diet.
Its good that you have considered the yoga and exercise.
Hope this satisfies your query.
Feel free to discuss furthur.

Thanks You doctor. Appreciate your inputs.

All things are normal at this point except one. In two separate instances in last one week she has faced extreme weakness where all of sudden she felt some sort of unconsciousness for few seconds and things went blind in her eyes. We gave her lemon juice immediately which helped her to improve and regain some energy.

Please help us to understand what could be the possible reasons for the same.

Kind Regards

Brief Answer:
It might be hypoglycemia

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,I got your query.I understand your concern.
In my opinion sudden loss of conciousness might be due to low blood sugar (hypoglycemia)or low BP(hypotension) or low HB(anaemia)as all the parameters are normal.
Its quite normal to have hypoglycemia in pregnancy. It might present with giddiness or loss of conciousness. It will get normal as soon as some juice or food is taken.
Taking food on time and snacks every 2 hourly prevent them.
Hypotension might be as a result of prolonged standing or fluid loss due to vomitings or motions or dehydration or for unknown reasons.
Consider doing HB to rule out anaemia.
Nothing to worry in both the cases.
Adequate fluid intake per day is important and healthy nutritional diet is needed.
Iron supplements along with iron rich diet like dates, green leafy vegetables, beetroot ,zaggery, liver are advisable.
Hope this satisfies your query.
Feel free to discuss furthur.
