Brief Answer:
is it for scabies?

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

ivermectin can be used for a variety of parasitic infections. You haven't mentioned any diagnosis..

For strongyloidiasis the dosage for your weight would be 16mg per day. It has to be taken for 2 days and be repeated at 15 days.

For onchocerciasis the dosage is 12mg once and repeat the dosage after 3-6 months.

For head lice usually local application is used (lotions). If you have to take it by mouth then the dosage is 20mg. It is taken once and has to be repeated after 1 and 2 weeks.

Finally for scabies the dosage is 16mg (once). In patients with HIV more doses are needed with 14 days interval.

I hope it helps!
Kind Regards!

Dr. Zografakis, I just tried to send an E-mail to your direct email address and it was rejected twice. My question was: I have 10/ 3mg tablets and if I need 16mg do I take 5 nor 6? I think I have filial worms in my subcutaneous skin so do I need to treat 2 days? If so, should I take 5 pills each day or 6 pills the first day (18mg) and 4 pills the second day? Also how do the worms leave my body?

Brief Answer:
for filaria (onchocerciasis) it's 12mg

Detailed Answer:
I can see your questions now. It seems that the previous one was not submitted.

If you have filaria (you need a diagnosis first!) then the treatment with ivermectin refers to onchocerciasis (river blindness disease) and would be 12mg (single dose) for your weight so there is no problem with the pills. The treatment may have to be repeated 3-6 months later until the symptoms disappear completely. The drugs will take care of the worms. In case there is co-infection with loa loa doxycycline will have to be used too.

Kind Regards!
