Question: My wife is suffering from continues cough and cold, specially cold. According to her, she is having sinus problem, though we are taking utmost care about her diet and other things but still immediately get caught with cold even with small changes in environment.
Before our marriage around five years back she undergone sinus related operation but she told it has no use, even couple of times we had visited specialist, they prescribe regular exercise for that but not turn out in satisfying result.
Can you have some solution around this as she has given up saying that i have to leave with this disease.

Hello,

Welcome to Healthcare Magic and thank you for writing to us.

Continuous cough and colds may mean allergic rhinitis, and the CT scan done before the sinus operation could have shed some light on this. Persistent allergic rhinitis occurs due to house dust mite allergy, and skin prick tests or blood tests (specific IgE tests) will be required to understand the allergies in your wife.
Also serum immunoglobulin IgG IgA IgM levels, Thyroid functions, Hb TC DC will be required to see if there are other causes.

Long-acting antihistamines and steroid nasal sprays used in combination bring the best relief, and is recommended.
1 in 20 patients do not respond to medications, and will need immunotherapy (also called 'allergy shots') when given as injections for 3 years. The effect of this treatment lasts more than 10 years, and most patients find they are able to stop medications.

I hope that was useful.
Best Wishes.

Natural remedies are available for allergies, but unfortunately the effect of such remedies do not last for a long time.
Please try and get the blood tests done to see if we can find the allergies.
Allegra 180mg once daily and nsaonex 1 spray per nostril once daily for 3 months is recommended.

Best Wishes.
