Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.

These symptoms can be due to thoracic outlet syndrome which is is a group of symptoms produced by a positional, intermittent compression of the brachial plexus and/or subclavian artery vein and the vertebral artery.

It is good that your cardiac status has come out fine and the x-rays have also come out fine. In this case, thoracic outlet syndrome is an important possibility to be explored.

Mostly it comprises of neurological symptoms characterized by compression of the brachial plexus which is a network of nerves that come from your spinal cord. This may cause Pain in your shoulder and neck, Numbness or tingling in your fingers and hands, ache in your arm and hand and ultimately weakening grip.

Diagnosis is difficult and apart from physical examination may involve provocation tests, electromyography and nerve conduction velocity tests. High resolution MRI/MRA of the Brachial Plexus may also be done.

You should get this possibility explored by your physician to confirm the diagnosis.

Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.

Wishing you good health.

Hello,

Thanks for writing back to me.

I can understand your concern for this pain. But it is a relief that your cardiac tests are normal. Considering your pains are worse after eating and having sharp pain in lower stomach also, it is important to rule out any acid reflux as well which can be precipitated by anxiety attack.

If you had previous cesarean sections, then adhesions can also be thought of. Thoracic outlet syndrome is not life threatening and is curable. You can get these possibilities investigated from your doctor.

Till that time, try raising the head of your bed about four inches with blocks. It also might help to avoid eating or drinking for two hours before you lie down. To help control the stomach acid, one should not drink alcohol or drinks with caffeine in them, or eat chocolate or spicy or greasy foods .

Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.

Wishing you good health.

Hello,

Thanks for writing back.

One possibility for such pain in calf and hips and numbness in foot can be sciatica which is characterized by pain radiating downward from the buttock over the posterior or lateral side of the lower limb. It is caused by certain positions are usually associated with continually holding a poor posture either at home or at work.

Imaging methods such as MR Neurography may help diagnosis and treatment of sciatica. You can take OTC pain killers like brufen,do some stretching exercises and yoga and maintain a correct upright posture while sitting.

Severe cases may require surgery.
