Brief Answer:
It depends upon the cause of taste loss.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing.

I am Dr.Muhammad Ahmad. I have read your question completely, i understand your concern and will try to help you in best way possible.

It depends upon the cause of your loss of taste sense.

We can have this problem in two ways:
1) Basis taste loss.
2) flavour loss.

One loses flavour in a way that one is feeling that the food taken is salty or sweet but cant get the flavour of it wether its a strawberry or XXXXXXX etc. Flavour is usually determined by our sense of smell. If it is lost because of flu or nasal congestion it can be restored if it is caused by nerve damage or stroke it usually doesn't come back.

Same is the case with taste if you are smelling the food well but not getting the bitter...sweet..salty..sour taste... then restoration depends upon the cause of taste loss. If its any med or reversible disease it can be restored but if it is due to a nerve damage, or a stroke it usually can not be restored.

I will suggest you to visit your ENT surgeon regarding this. A complete work up is usually needed to determine the cause and weigh the best possible options.

I hope this answered your question, a
if you have more please feel free to ask.

Regrads.
