Is Random Blood Sugar Level Of 279 A Cause For Concern?

Question: My husband is type II diabetic. He has been on Lantis insulin very successfully for several years. The last 2 nights (early a.m.) he has seized . His dr told him to come in tomorrow with blood sugar results and to not take insulin tonight. His blood sugar tonight is 279. What do I need to watch for tonight with such a hgh blood sugar level? He is 79 y.o.. YYYY@YYYY

Hypoglycemia should be avoided in his case.
For that insulin is already stopped in his case.
Monitor his blood sugar 2 hourly throughout the night till you seek medical attention.
Accept blood sugar levels between 100 to 300.
One can accept high blood sugar levels or short duration as hypoglycemia has much more detrimental effect on health than short time hyperglycemia.
