Is It Safe To Switch From 40mg Prozac To 100mg Zoloft?

default
Posted on Thu, 2 Apr 2015
Question: I have Anxiety/Depression and PPD. I was on 40mg Prozac for the past 4 years, noticed PPD 4 weeks ago (I gave birth to my second child on 11-27-2014) and had my Prozac increased to 80mg. It has made my good days/moments better but bad days/moments worse. So for 1 week I will be taking 40mg Prozac and then am being switched to Zoloft 100mg. Is that a normal starting dose? What should I expect?

Brief Answer:
Yeah, it can be done

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for writing through HCM.

I have read your query and understood that you shall take 40 mg of prozac and then switch to zoloft 100 mg.

The usual starting dose of zoloft is 50 mg once a day but when you are taking 40 mg of prozac, you can tolerate 100 mg of zoloft.

The initial side effects after zoloft are nausea, vomiting, dry mouth, drowsiness, dizziness, tired feeling, stomach pain, upset stomach, constipation, changes in appetite or weight, sleep problems (insomnia) etc. You can have sudden diarrhea after zoloft. This side effects usually subsides with time. They are temporary.

Hope I have answered your query. If you have further query then I shall be happy to help. Wish you god health.
