Is It Normal To Feel Warmer Than Usual During Pregnancy?

default
Posted on Thu, 25 Jun 2015
Question: I am 27 weeks pregnant and I was outside yesterday in 90 degree weather for about 90min in the shade at a BBQ. I was drinking water the whole time and sitting down. But towards the end I just felt too warm. On the way home we had the AC going but I was feeling icky. Once we got home and I was inside I felt better. Could this have affected my baby at all if I started to get too hot out there? I'm concerned...he's been moving like normal.

Hello.

Welcome to Healthcare Magic.

I read carefully your query and I can understand your concern for your baby.

It is normal to feel warmer than usual when you are pregnant and being a bit more vulnerable to hot weather. It is more easy to get dehydrated when you are pregnant.
You don't need to worry.Feeling too hot won't affect your baby.Serious dehydration can affect the baby but since you have been taking enough fluids ,it is not of concern.
Try not to worry too much. You baby is safer and stronger than you think.

I would suggest to avoid getting out in very hot weather.Try to plan your outdoor activities for the cooler part of the day and always stay hydrated.Drink plenty of water.
Right now ,you have nothing to worry about.

Hope it helps.
Please feel free to ask for every question you might have.

Kind regards,
Dr.Rovena Murati

Hello.

Yes,this is true.
As I said it is normal to be more susceptible to hot weather during pregnancy but you just need to avoid staying for long hours in high temperatures and drink plenty of fluids.
Your baby is fine and very protected in your uterus.

Take care.
