Is Intake Of Prednisone Safe Before A Colonoscopy?

default
Posted on Mon, 4 Apr 2016
Question: I am having a colonoscopy and a gastroscopy in 7 hours. My pharmacy delivered 3 tablets of Prednisone and Benadryl. I checked my mail and received a date for my CT scan with contrast next month. Should I not take the next 2 doses of Prednisone?

Brief Answer:
NO need to take the tablets.

Detailed Answer:
HI

Thanks for posting your query.

First of all for what purpose this prednisone and Benadry have been prescribed. Kindly let me know ?

In my opinion these medicines are to be taken before getting CT with contrast to avoid reactions to Contrast. There is no need of them for getting Colonoscopy/Gastroscopy. But do let me know why it has been prescribed?

As of your query is concerned , you need to be nil orally for 10 hours before the scan so don't take these medicines till the scan is done.

Hope this information was useful to you.
Any clarifications feel free to ask.

Regards.
