default
Posted on Wed, 11 Jun 2014
Question: I am 59, have Gastritis, esophagitis, GERD, sliding hernia, and Hida ejection fraction 29%, this is after a Nissen Fundo. I have been unable to eat because of nausea, pain, and pushed the dr to finally check my gallbladder, during the CCK injection (Tech did a slow injection), it replicated everything I feel after eating. I see a surgeon on Thursday, should I push to have my gallbladder removed?

Brief Answer:
Hi and welcome to HCM.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for the query.
I think that gallbladder should be removed and this is the first thing to think of as a cause of your symptoms. of course, some other causes may be considered such as nissen procedure complciations, new stomach disorder or bowel disorders, but gallbladder issues are most commonly seen in females at your age.
Gallbladder removal is simple surgery today which is usually done laparoscopically. Considering your previous surgery in upper abdomen, some abdominal adhesions could have developed and it might do difficulties in laparoscopy, but most surgeons can deal with it. Wish you good health. Feel free to ask. Regards
