Is Norpramin Advisable For Bipolar Depression?

Question: Good morning: I am 72 yrs old(young) and have been dx as bipolar depression since I retired 7 yrs ago
and I am wondering if I could try Norpramine for depression? Currently I am taking Lithium which does not help w/ depression.(300mgm) Thank you XXXXXXX @

Sho uld mention she also suggested Budropion 100mgm in AM and METHYLPHENIDATE prn Currently d/c b/c of wgt gain.

Lithium is typically effective for bipolar depression. However, if it isn't working for you, you can try other meds approved for bipolar depression including Depakote, Latuda, Seroquel, or Abilify. Norpramine is not safe because it could induce a manic state. Buproprion is a possibility but there is no evidence it actually improves bipolar depression. Methylphenidate is safe and may help you have more energy.
