default
Posted on Sat, 4 Jun 2016
Question: I have been experiencing bitter tongue every morning after I wake up for last 3 months. persistent eye burning and griting pain but no redness. rotating pain in skull.
I was diagnosed with chronic mastoiditis and chronic otitis media, for which I get operated but these symptoms are still happening to me. I m scared is it underlying some serious disease.
I even did HIV testing at 11th week apart from Pcr test at 5th week and combo test at 7th week. all came negative ., because of unprotected vaginal sex 2.5 months ago.

please help as I am very much stressed and worried.

Brief Answer:
Not related to HIV.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX,

Welcome to HCM.

You had unprotected vaginal sex 2.5 month before and the HIV tests at 5, 7 and 11 weeks are negative then no need to worry related to HIV as it is not the reason in your case so just calm down yourself.

Consult your operating surgeon for persistence of symptoms and follow the treatment regime. Don't get stressed or feared as it is not good and also causes many unrelated symptoms sometimes.

Hope this info will help you. For any doubt left in ur mind get feel free to ask me any time. I am always available here to help you out straight way.

Thank You

You need to test again after 3 months.

Dear XXXX,

Welcome back and thanks for follow-up.

PCR at 37 days and combo test after 51 days both are highly reliable but still one need to get tested again after 3 months as per routine guidelines to get 100% accurate and conclusive result.

Brief Answer:
3 months after the last exposure.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX,

Welcome back once again.

You need to get tested after 3 months or 12 weeks from last exposure either with 4th generation Duos or RNA PCR. Don't get anxious or feared and go for the test. The result will surely come in your favour.

thanks. .have you ever witnessed a case where a 72 nd day negetive has got positive later. what is immunochromatography test which I did on 7 2nd day
doctor
Answered by Dr. Sunil Jangid (28 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
The possibility is practically nil.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX,

I have never seen such case where 72 day negative result turned out to be positive after 3 months. It is practically not possible so don't worry about that.

Immunochromatography is one of the techniques for doing HIV test and it is also considered highly reliable and accurate after 72 days of exposure.

doctor. .can a test post 12 weeks can be considered 100% conclusive and no further test is required irrespective of symptoms. as I have tested negetive till 72 day..I m hopeful of negetive result on 85th day too.
as I have symptoms like salty/bitter / metallic mouth in morning for last 2 and half months, have you ever witnessed or heard it as a HIV symptom
doctor
Answered by Dr. Sunil Jangid (47 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
The test result at 12 weeks is 100% reliable and conclusive.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX,

The negative result at 72 day highly increases the chances of negative result at 85 days also and the rest result is 100% reliable and conclusive after 12 weeks and no further test is required for HIV.

Your symptoms are not related to HIV. Consult the local physician to isolate the cause and follow the treatment regime. Don't get worried as the risk is very unlikely. Be relaxed and move ahead in life.

I again checked my last test report and it mentioned TRIDOT HIV TEST NEGETIVE. it was on 72nd day. how reliable is tridot method. also did taking antibiotics for a long time could affect HIV TESTING. today. I m only 1 week away from completing 12 weeks time. can secroconversion happen so late.
please advice doctor as this symptoms low fever and headache and bitter tongue and pressure in eyes are not leaving me for last 3 months. I did all mentioned test for HIV given in books from PCR to combo to Tridot

Answered by Dr. Sunil Jangid (2 hours later)
Brief Answer:
Tridot is highly reliable at 72 days.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX,

Tridot is highly reliable method at 72 days and long term antibiotics consumption has no concern with test result. Also the possibility of late conversion is also practically nil in your case so don't worry.

Fever and other symptoms are not related to HIV. Consult your local physician and follow the advice. Consider counselling services if needed. No need to worry or get tensed and move ahead in life.
