Suggest Treatment For Abnormal Discharge Due To Bug Infection

Posted on Wed, 22 Oct 2014
Question: I have so much crap I hate to even ask, but I just moved back to Alabama from CO to care for my mom. I am HepC+, I have recurrent flares of h. Zoster mainly affecting my left side and trigeminal nerve. I had shingles followed by ITP at age 8. I had a sub arachnid cerebral hemorrhage 20 months ago, I have just had back surgery, and I highly suspect parasitic/scabie skin involvement. I had a lump on left leg about 15 years ago and that is how they finally diagnosed the hep c. I'm getting petechial skin irritations , spontaneous nose bleeds, and passed something in my urine that looked like some sort of worm in diluted tomato juice. It wasn't burning and once I passed another sample at the er with several of these things in them they said I had a UTI. My platelets were normal they said. My dr followed up the next day and there there was no elevated white count or bacterial growth, so I passed something... right there in the main waiting areas waiting room restroom. I am tired tired tired and have high anxiety in transferring to a new Dr here in Alabama. Dr's don't believe me and do not like to go through the crate of medical records that follow me. I have also been diagnosed with Meniere's and Fibromyalgia. Personally, I think these may be secondary to other conditions I have. It just gets so tiring and we cannot review it all in the 7 minute window they (the drs.) give you in an appt. I still need several surgeries on my back 'when I can't stand it any longer'. When I get the inflammatory flare up (shingles?hepc?both?) I cycle fever and chills until I break a sweat then either start feeling better or keep cycling. I use acyclovir daily and more when I feel a flare. I use only 1 pain medication and do not expect to be pain free or even better that a 5 on that one to 10 scale. With med I manage at 6 to 7 on any given day. I am in bed hiding if it gets worse that this. My immunoglobulin's are normal but my B and T white killer cells are constantly elevated trying to do their job. The fatigue I sometimes feel is indescribable. I just wish a dr could connect the dots and help me with manageability. I don't want tons of meds just way I need to have some quality of life. It is some sort of an auto immune soup and I just want it leveled down. I don't think I have 11 separate conditions. I think I have 3 or 4 with the others being symptoms. I try and make a short succinct list when I go to the DR cause they get irritated with more than 1 or 2 issues. I don't blame them. All the petechial skin involvement makes all this scary esp after that aneurysm out of the blue. They won't run many tests because they are trying to keep costs down, which I also understand. I have Medicare and a very good Humana PPO supplement and will go without any social fun to budget for my medical needs. My post brain aneurysm cost was $1.7 million pre insurance rate and my part drained me of all my savings but the bills all got paid. I am now in XXXXXXX AL. staying at my mom's to be near her as I had to place her into a skilled nursing facility. Any suggestions on what type of DR's I should be seeing? What tests I should ask for and hold firm on getting them? I have set up a good pain mngt group that doesn't just throw pills at you, and want to utilize phys therapy, relaxation and meditation. These bugs, worms, scabies/mites were picked up in an income restricted apt complex when I moved to XXXXXXX (11 months ago) to be nearer good medical help. The landlord would not do anything about it, just told me to move (: The Dr's just say 'hmmm, interesting.' I am using a natural approach right now with neem oil (I will take a 1/2 teasp a day internally of the neem oil), tea tree oil, hydrogen peroxide, and witch XXXXXXX (externally), cleanliness, and I have no pets. have never written to anything like this before, but I need guidance. I want to be a contributing part of society and not in bed over half the time. I used to be a workaholic and while that isn't good either, it was better than this. thanks for your time in reading this. I need a light bulb moment :)

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query.

I have read your query. I will try to answer your specific questions and current concerns.

Any suggestions on what type of DR's I should be seeing?
You may want to see an infectious disease specialist or atleast internal medicine specialist.

What tests I should ask for and hold firm on getting them?
- Microbiology of the specimens should be asked for. You are getting abnormal discharges or white worms/bugs, these specimens should be sent for microscopy. Should be checked with blood tests for petechiae.

Meditation should be learnt from a teacher. I usually suggest Art of living for it.

It was better if you described the bugs in detail and even upload their photograph. It is not safe to take neem oil internally. I can guess that you are trying to detox, eliminate the bugs etc. It is better to control the intake of toxins like drinking the cleanest water available in grocery stores and eating more fruits. If you see white forms floating in boiling water (that you are drinking), then drinking water may be the source of the bugs. Drinking clean water should help with atleast some of your symptoms.

Petechiae may be happening because of low vit K. Vit K may become low due to alteration of normal flora in the gut. Get its level checked in the blood and if deficiency is present, take its supplement. Take pain as a thought and gulp it. Try to be physically active.

Hope I addressed your concerns. Let me know if you have more doubts.

Thank you, I have wondered about the vitamin k myself, that makes sense. so I will make sure I am getting my daily intake. I was for a time about 2 years ago very low on vit D but very high with iron. It finally stabilized with rx strength vit d. My iron level is just south of the border to be dx with hemochromatosis. I think the high iron and hep c, and on and on could cause anyone fatigue. I know with the cerebral hemorrhage trauma and complications of that, I am a walking miracle. Most don't walk away from that and retain all their function. I need to remember gratitude. I just get so very tired physically and so very anxious seeing a dr, especially a new one. It is a committed relationship for me and I am hoping I find the right fit first time out :) Simple answer for vit d, get more sun or utilize artificial indoor light technologies and more vit D into diet which I can do. For the iron a therapeutic phlebotomy would probably help but Dr won't order it and I can't give blood because of hep c. I will stop the ingestion of neem oil but it seems to be helping externally (could be mind over matter, lol). I think an internist makes sense. I do have photos of the bugs (I was once a lab tech) with a cheap 50x mag digital microscope. definitely look to be bird/mice mites and something called chytiella (sp?) a fiber feathery looking thing. Any way, I'm rambling. Thanks for your time. I appreciate a wholistic approach and that is what I will seek.

Brief Answer:
Neem oil is antifungal and antiparasitic

Detailed Answer:
Hi again

Firstly I will talk about neem oil and cheyletiella. Neem oil has some anifungal and antiparasitic properties and is helping you with skin problems. It is scientifically understandable. Cheyletiella is a parasite of the dogs and cats and can be transmitted to humans. Neem oil is helping by eliminating this parasite and any abnormal fungi from your body (git and skin). I personally think that git and skin get affected simultaneously in many infections. Thus such substances help clear both. But the issue is that it can have side effects and should not be taken internally. Applying externally is safe.

Regarding cheyletiella, you should try the treatment that is used for scabies (scabicides). It is available with prescription. Apply it overnight except on face and wash it off in the morning. Repeat the process in 1 week if still some mites are remaining.

Regarding vit K, your doctor can investigate if it is deficient. He should also investigate for other bleeding disorders. Appropriate treatment can be started after documenting deficiency.

Regarding your almost haemochromatosis, therapeutic phlebotomy will make you feel better.

Regarding Hep c there are new treatments available that have been tried in many patients with success. Treatment options like interferon, and some new drugs are available. Check with your doctor about it.

Regarding fatigue, it is the end-result of many issues going on with your health. But I also know that you have survived through bad health. I hope you will enjoy better health with appropriate management.

In the meanwhile take the precautions that I mentioned in my previous reply. A combination of yoga or other exercises, safe food and water, eliminating recurrences of infections, appropriate management of ongoing issues will help you lead a stress free life.

Hope it helps.
