Hello
Thanks for writing to us with your health concern.
The vagina discharge itself is enough to keep the vaginal canal dry.
It is a completely erroneous notion that you need to ' clean ' your vagina.
The more you rub, scrub, douche or clean it, the more you disturb the innate natural bacterial flora of the vagina.
Once the vaginal pH gets altered, it becomes prone to infections.
The best way to clean your vagina is to wash it copiously with warm lukewarm water.
Stay completely away from wipes, gels, douches, perfumed deodorants or soaps and cleansers.
You do not need any special products to clean your vagina.
Clean the
vulva externally with simple unperfumed soap ( Baktolin 5.5 for example ), and wash the vagina with warm water.
That is more than enough.
During periods, keep yourself shaved and meticulously clean.
Change pads / tampons religiously.
Clean the perineal area around the anus very well.
Always wipe yourself front to back.
Get
STD screening for yourself and your partner.
Using a condom minimizes risk of acquiring sexually transmitted diseases.
Have regular
cervical screening ( you have not mentioned your age, or i would tell you how regularly ).
If you do not use external cleansers, the vaginal pH balance will remain healthy, and the normal healthy
vaginal discharge and secretions will auto cleanse the vaginal canal.
After sex , just wash the vagina with plain water, and clean the external perineal area as described.
Drink lots of water , and avoid using public toilets to prevent UTI (
urinary tract infections ).
Amount and texture of vaginal secretions varies with the menstrual cycle, and there is a typical smell to vaginal secretions, which are normal - do not attempt to eliminate it, it is a normal odour.
All the best.
Please feel free to discuss further.
