Answered by Dr. Grzegorz Stanko (12 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
Chemotherapy response is very individual thing.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Can you please give some more details about the cancer? Where are the metastases located? Is it single metastasis or multiply? Was there KRAS mutation checked?

Chemotherapy sensitivity is a very individual thing. Every cancer is build of different cells so there can be very different response for chemotherapy. For sure, nowadays, chemotherapy can not cure metastatic colon cancer. But it can greatly extend life.
For sure chemotherapy should be associated with Bevacizumab (Avastin). This is an antibody which is targeted to cancer cells. We call it target therapy. The effectiveness of classic chemotherapy with Bevacizumab is much higher than chemotherapy alone.

Once again, chemotherapy response is individual. And no one can tell how much life will be gained with such treatment.

Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.

Brief Answer:
Avasting is a very good idea.

Detailed Answer:
If you are able to add Avastin, this is a very good idea. Like I have said before, it can greatly extend his life. KRAS mutation should be ruled out before adding it.

Yes, he may have eating problems. Chemo is affecting intestinal cells. This is very common thing.

He may also try radioembolisation if liver mets after finishing chemo.

Can avastin work with KRAS mutatin ? I'm sure I read it can .

Can the cancer be resistant to avastin too ?

With irinotecan he had hardly no effects n that failed . But with this oxy n raltitrexed it's knocked him for 6!

Is this a good chemo combo ?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Grzegorz Stanko (18 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
Avastin should be tried even with this mutation.

Detailed Answer:
Yes, it still can work with this mutation. Its worth to try.
Yes, it can be resistant to avastin as well. It attacks specific cells receptors. In case of lack of this receptors on cancer cells, it wont work.

If the metastases has shrink this is a good chemo. It should be checked with CT. That how we find it the chemo response.

If there's about 9-10 mets this mean whole liver covered ? 2 mets are 7 cm rest smaller.

Is peritoneal area more worse or liver ?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Grzegorz Stanko (9 hours later)
Brief Answer:
Liver can be covered with mets indeed.

Detailed Answer:
10 mets is still a lot. So most likely whole liver is affected. Liver mets is the worst location. Much worse than peritoneal.
You need to wait and see how chemo will work.
