Dear Friend.
Hi , I am Dr Anshul Varshney , I have read your query in detail , I understand your concern.

Linzess is Linaclotide, a recent drug which is under clinical trials and also being used by doctors for treating pain of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (Constipation Predominant).

The most common adverse effect of this drug that has been seen is Diarrhea.

1. Since when do you have IBS?
2. It's Constipation Predominant or Diarrhea Predominant?
3. Do you have pain in abdomen?
4. How much dosage are you taking and at what time?
5. What kind of discharges you are talking about? If it is in stools?

I have had IBS for 15 years. The dose is 250mg a day. the discharge is a light, light green, but in urine. The medication has helped with the pain.

I am married with a hyst. and no kids so my health should be ok... better be.

Brief Answer:
Not a well known side effect

Detailed Answer:
Dear Friend.
This is not a well known side effect of Linaclotide.
But it's not like that it has never been reported.
But important here is to find any other cause for such problem.

I would further like to know:
1. After how much time of starting this drug you started having this problem?
2. Since when are you taking Linaclotide and since when are you facing this problem?
3. Any burning in urine?
4. Any fever?
5. How many times in a day do you have this discharge while passing urine.

Another thing is that Linaclotide is available in strength of 145 microgram and 290 microgram. So, if you are getting it in strength of 250 mg, please check that you are taking the right drug.
Reply with these details.
Stay Healthy.

More frequently since i increased the dose the coloring has been more frequent. Few times a week. Nothing dramatic. Just odd.

No fever and little to no burning

Brief Answer:
Get Urine examination

Detailed Answer:
Dear Friend.
It seems to be due to the medicine only. I would advice you to get Urine routine and microscopy done to see for any urinary tract infection.
If that is normal then you should watch for few days. This should get normal. If this persists even after a few days then you should discuss with your doctor about stopping the medicine.
If you have any further query please ask me, else you may please close the discussion and rate it.
Stay Healthy.
