How Can A Splenic Cyst Be Treated?
Question: Hello, I'm a 63 year old Caucasian female and had an ultrasound due to pains on my upper right quadrant which turned out fine.
they noticed a Splenic 2.7 x 2.7 minimally complex cyst with an internal septation.
It has increased in size since 2010. I was never told about it in 2010, however, my doc wants to due further MRI study.
I was just told this today and very concerned as I read it is quite rare. Can this be cancerous and or parasitic? Can it turn cancerous? Confused and concerned. Liver, Kidneys, had simple cysts, gallbladder good, pancreas fine, but did not see tail of Pancreas.

Based on the mentioned description there are chances of it being parasitic. Cancerous cannot be ruled out but is less likely. A parasitic lesion does not however turn cancerous. You might need to undergo a biopsy (or at least an ultrasound guided FNAC) for confirmation.
