Brief Answer:
Need to consult Urologist and get Ultrasound Scanning done .

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for query .

You are in 15 weeks of pregnancy and have bearable pain in abdomen due to impacted stone in ureter .

I shall be happy if you can post me few more details to help me in making precise comments on your problem.
1) Have you done ultrasound Scanning of abdomen? if so what is the size of the stone ,site of the stone ,degree of hydronephrosis reported in scanning report ?
2) Do you have vomiting ,fever associated with pain ?
3) Are you getting repeated episodes of severe pain ?

It is not a rule that every stone in ureter in a pregnant woman would not pass out spontaneously .The stone less than size of 8 mm do pass out spontaneously .

I would suggest you to follow treatment as outlined below .
1)Ensure to drink more water to produce more urine
2) Take antibiotic like Norfloxacin twice daily for a week to prevent infection
3) Take Tomsulosin once daily .This helps to relax smooth muscles in wall of the ureter causing dilatation of ureter and there by moving the stone down .
3) Drotoverine twice daily This will act as a antispasmodic and give relief from colicky pain .(All these drugs can be safely taken during second trimester of pregnancy )

I have been practicing this regime for last 40 years of my practice in pregnant patients with stone in ureter those are referred to me and have not subjected any patient for endoscopic intervention which is rather more difficult to negotiate rigid Ureteroscope through ureter due to pregnant uterus .However with availability of flexible Ureteroscope it is possible now a days to remover the impacted stones in ureter provided it becomes deemed necessity to save the kidney ..

Repeat your Ultrasound Scanning after 2 weeks to reevaluate the site of stone ,and any change in degree of hydronephrosis and consult qualified Urologist for assessment and further treatment .

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions ,I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.

Thank you doctor...i have not consulted an urologist yet and it is merely my guess that the pain is surely kidney stone...the last time i scanned was in december and it was below 4 mm in size.. since then i have been drinking lots of water. i do not have fever or nausea affected with this...i do not have episodes of severe pain...just a dull ache in my left lower back and stabbing sensations in left lower abdomen when i get up or move alot. Thank you for the valuble help doctor..if u can advise me more and help me reach a solution to get rid of the stone i will be grateful for i am alone at home and wont be able to meet a urologist till next week after my husband returns...thank u doctor

There is nothing to be worried about .

Hello
Thanks for follow up .

A stone of a size of 4 mm will surely pass out spontaneously .

Take the treatment suggested and repeat your scanning after two weeks to see present status and site of the stone and go with report to Urologist or ask the Ultrasonologist to look for stone while you will go for routine anti natal scan.

Thanks and Regards.
