Having Dry Lips On Outsides And Itchy Vagina. Diagnosed With Strep B. What Is Wrong?

default
Posted on Mon, 8 Oct 2012
Question: I have been having dry lips on the outsides. Peeling skin on the insides. Occasional cuts/splits on the bottom lip. Occasional slits on the inside of cheeks/roof/base of mouth. I also have had occasional vaginal/anal itching and cuts/slits on vaginal lips and anus. When I drink sugary substances like coke or a bunch of candy it makes my mouth more irritated. Sometimes of sugar my face (in weird places) and around my lips will tingle. Also, my eyes will start burning. I also have headaches and neck aches and that is not normal for me. I have also noticed my face and even scalp is dryer than usual. I have already been tested for most of the sexually transmitted diseases chlymydia, aids, hepatitis B, etc. I have been diagnosed with strep B. I was tested for all these things because I'm pregnant. These symptoms are not associated with my pregnancy though because I was suffering from them for at least 5 months before becoming pregnant. I was also tested for herpes type 1 and 2 around 4 months after symptoms started and results where negative. I know something is wrong with me and really want to find out what it is. Especially if it can be passed to my unborn child.

Hi XXXXXXX,

I understand your concern for passing some disease to your unborn
baby.but your symptoms dont point towards any tranmissible disease.

Only thing which comes closest is herpes infection which can be transmitted to baby in utero.
As you hav been tested negative for herpes there is nothing to be worried about.

Also lichen planus is one condition which can cause lesions in mouth ,vagina.with burning sensation of mucosa. It is a treatable disease .its not transmissible.

Otherwise it can be simple xerosis aggravated by stress of pregnancy.you need to apply ,moisturizers and oil over scalp.

Drink a lot of water. Eat more fruits also calcium and iron supplements.

Also i would like to know-

do you get dryness in eyes/foreign body sensation in eyes?

Do you have normal amount of tears?

Do you feel decreased saliva?

Answer the questions to help you better.

Hope this helps.

Regards.

Yes, my eyes can be dry at times and bloodshot usually when I'm tired. I do cry a lot so I guess I would say I have a normal amount of tears. That brings something to mind that I haven't mentioned. When I cry, which is a lot due to hormones, my eyes burn the worst..Almost like they are on fire and I have something acidic in my tears.

I want to be totally honest and tell you these problems did start in mid XXXXXXX after a one time sexual experience with a different partner. The symptoms started just a few days after the occurrence. The first symptoms were weird sensations in my anal area, almost like worms were crawling in and around my anal opening and lots of itching and vaginal itching, then sore throat, fever, body/muscle aches, then a difference in discharge (thick and yellow), burning inside mouth/tongue. Also had very painful slit on the tip of my tongue and then two XXXXXXX slits beside each other on inside of bottom lip.

The guy was in marines and when I asked him about it he said he was just tested and had chylmydia. He said like it was no big deal and that he took oral antibiotic drink and was perfectly fine. Ugh! I went immediately to STD clinic and was tested for early result chylmydia and aids. Both results were negative. ( weird that c was not positive) then went back and had herpes test and was neg but was early then returned 4 mo later and still having issues went back to clinic and had another aids
Test, herpes 1and 2 and chylmydia and was neg. I have not been tested after 6mo or more for herpes 1&2. Do you think that could still be a possibility? All symptoms that I've entered on comp seem to point to that.

I have a 1 friend that gets fever blisters on outside of her lip and I have never had something look like that. I have noticed that I have more aggravation when I shave. Especially in between my buttocks cheeks. Very itchy and aggravating then if I scratch red bumps appear but no blisters. I usually wouldn't have much irritAtion.

My skin inside my lips (mouth) feels raw. It heals quickly then starts thickening then peeling process again. Shallow lesions inside lips usually heal in a few days but cuts seem to take a little longer.

I have luckily never had any female problems not even 1 yeast infection. That reminds me that the clinic did put me on a 2 rounds of yeast meds and a round of flagyl to see if would help discharge issue. It cleared up with flagyl and that problem has never returned. All the other problems remained. Yeast meds did nothing.

The mistake happened during a separation of my husband and I. I have definitely learned my lesson through all this. We are now back together and expecting our third child. It seemed like I might have noticed him experiencing flu symptoms in the beginning but that might be me overeacting. He hasn't displayed any other signs or symptoms as of yet.

I just really want to find out what is wrong and have a diagnosis so I can be treated. I'm tired of not feeling normal and miss the old me. I know this has been a lot to read but I wanted to be as thorough as possible to help your prognosis.
I also forgot to mention again that I did test positive for strep b during the round of testing required for pregnant women. It is weird to me because I have never tested positive for that bacteria with my first two children. Do you think that could be a cause of my any or all of my symptoms. I still don't know too much about it.

The headaches were really severe in the beginning and have gotten less painful but still have an occasional one. They are usually localized in the back of my head, sometimes radiating to the right side and over my ear to my right temple. It is really strange for me to start having headaches because I have never had them before. Maybe one a year before this mess.

This probably has no connectionbut being thorough...I also have issues just rencently
with my right jaw popping when I bite down. When I bite all the way down it pops hard beside my ear and can be quite painful. All this sounds like I'm falling apart huh? I probably sound like a bit of a hypochondriac but I am truly unfortunately STILL experiencing many of these things.
Thank you

HI again,

Thanks for the detail account of your symptoms.

I would like to make you clear that the symptoms you are describing are NOT indicative of any STD.Neither these symptoms relate to strepto B positive results.

Headaches and jaw pain is a separate issue. Not related to present mucosal problems.

Another thing which possibly comes to close to explaining your symptoms is
Sjrogrens syndrome. It can cause dry eye /dry mouth /dryness of mucosa.
It can also explain your generalised weakness ,fatigue, feeling of being unwell.

Sjogrens is an autoimmune disease. It can be diagnosed by salivary gland biopsy and doing blood test for XXXXXXX antibodies, XXXXXXX A and XXXXXXX B antibodies.

If you can test for the blood test it will be well and good.

Also a visit to your physician will be helpful in proper examination and diagnosis.

Hope this helps you .

regards.
