Hello XXXXXXX
Thanks for writing your query to us.
As you had mentioned that you are diagnosed as having B12 deficiency that itself explain the cause for your hair fall. Don’t worry as your blood levels of iron & B12 improves, your hair fall will also gradually stop. Anemia is the commonest cause of hairfall in females. In the mean while you can follow few things to decrease hair fall.
-Increase protein intake in your diet.
-Drink more water. Daily 8 – 10 glasses of water.
-Keep your hair clean. Dirty hairs are more prone to infection & fall easily. Take care of your hair.
-Regularly apply oil overnight to hair before doing shampoo.
-Reduce chemical treatments on hair.
-Take iron & B12 supplements as advised by your doctor.
-Most importantly don’t think too much & take stress. Stress can also lead to hair fall. Take adequate sleep & relax.
I hope I have answered your query. In case you have any further query I will be happy to help you.
Take care.

Thank you Dr. XXXXXXX

I am taking care of the points you have mentioned with medications/nutritions below. Can you review them and let me know if that is alright?

-Increase protein intake in your diet.
I am a vegetarian and the only protein I can get is dal so I am using dietary supplement HerbaLife - Personalized Protein Powder - 1 Tsp per day in milk (protein 4.96 gms in 1 tsp(6gms)). I have heard that protein powders can cause kidney stones, is that true?

-Drink more water. Daily 8 – 10 glasses of water.
I drink 4-5 glasses only. I am working on improving this. I drink more water in night verses day as I am busy with work during day. Is it alright to drink more water at night?

-Keep your hair clean. Dirty hairs are more prone to infection & fall easily. Take care of your hair.
This I do take care of. I keep my hair clean.

-Regularly apply oil overnight to hair before doing shampoo.
I do this regularly.

-Reduce chemical treatments on hair.
I had permnent hair straightening done 2 yrs ago and have completely stopped chemical treatments to my hair since then. I do apply XXXXXXX to cover my greys.
Is that all right? any suggestions on that front.

-Take iron & B12 supplements as advised by your doctor.
I am taking B12 Injections once in a week
Follihair - once a day
Conviron Forte (Haematinic with time release iron)
Let me know if I should take anything else.

Hello XXXXXXX
Thanks for asking your query.
You can continue taking your protein supplement . Include Soya granules, paneer in your diet & just make sure that you increase water intake. This will flush out toxins in your body & prevent formation of any stones.
Drink 8-10 glass of water. It is better that you drink water in the day time. If you drink more water in night that will affect your sleep as you will have to get up frequently in night to pass urine.
You are keeping your hair clean & applying oil regularly that’s good .
You can apply XXXXXXX to cover greys. That’s not a problem. XXXXXXX is good conditioner, you can continue with that.
Continue with the medicines which you are taking. Check your Vitamin B12 & Serum iron levels after 3 months.
I hope I have answered all your queries. Take care.
