Does Urinary Infection Have An Effect On Pregnancy Chances?
Question: Hi doctor.
I am married before 3 months.planning for my first baby. First 2 months I didn't had my periods properly (light spotting with brown discharge).
I visited gynaecologist to on my 2nd month to check whether I am pregnant or not.got rnegative result . doctor took ultra scan to check my ovaries and all. Everything is fine in scan. Doctor suggested to take susten 200 orally. After 20 days I got urine infection. Following to that I got my periods with good flow. We had intercourse during my fertile time. But i got my periods. I am very upset. Does infection affected my chances of conceiving?? My period cycle is 30 days. Age 24. Partners age 28. Kindly guide me.

Coming directly to your question, urine infection does not affect chances of conception.
Your OBGYN ordered ultrasound scan and found it to be normal.
But did you go for hormonal evaluation like thyroid status, prolactin levels, LH and FSH levels? Hormonal imbalance can be a cause of inability to conceive.
I would also like to know why did she start susten 200mg tablets?
Here, let me tell you that every sexual encounter may not result into pregnancy.
You must keep trying without getting upset and frustrated. Enjoy the sex. It should be pleasure giving and not just a task to conceive.
You can place pillows under your legs after your husband ejaculates inside you. This will keep the semen inside.
In my opinion, your husband should also go for semen analysis.

Thanks doctor. we did only urine and beta blood test. and that sounds everything normal. and i am taking folic acid tablets from last month. Susten 200 given for 10 days after my periods date. Do I know why susten 200 mostly prescribed?

Though safe, I would still suggest you to try to conceive naturally without the help of drug.
Go for hormonal tests which I mentioned earlier.

You can continue with folic acid tablets as directed.
