Question: I need to know if morphine will test positive as an opioid on a simple 5 panel drug screen. I usually take fentanyl patches, oxycodone and Xanax monthly but ran short by 4 days. this is a simple drug screen done in office. I am tested for opiates, pot, meth, cocaine and Xanax. Does morphine just show up on drug screen for opiates or am I in trouble here??

Brief Answer:
Yes,morphine will test positive as an opioid.

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXX
Thanks for writing to HCM

Yes,morphine will test positive as an opioid on a 5 panel drug screen because morphine belongs to opioid group of drugs.

Morphine is excreted in the urine primarily as morphine-3-glucuronide while smaller amounts are excreted as unchanged free morphine and other metabolites.

Morphine is delectable in the urine for several days after an opiate dose.

Hope I have answered your question.
