Question: Took levofloxacin. Am itching. No hives or swelling. Is this requiring a visit to the ER or can I just ride it out and tell my urologist I'm allergic to the medication in the morning.

Brief Answer:
Take benadryl syrup and keep a close watch on your symptoms for 2 hours

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

Please keep a close watch on your symptoms over the next couple of hours. Please take an antihistamine syrup like Benadryl which might give you relief from itching.

However at any point if you feel there are hives appearing any where on your self or if you are having difficulty in breathing then please go to ER immediately.

If you are doing well over the next couple of hours then there was a mild allergic reaction and you can inform this to your urologist tomorrow morning. Please do not take any more levofloxacin pills till you consult your doctor.

Hope your query is answered.
Please do write back if you have nay doubts.

Regards,
