Question: I broke my left ankle, wore a boot for a month, and now my right leg is weak. Could the boot have caused that? What can I do after eight months of this?

Yes this weakness in other leg can be due to boot cast.
Boot cast leads to change in gait pattern due to fix ankle movement and increased limb length.
Due to cast there occurs limb length discrepancy.

Now you need to do exercises from trained physiotherapist.
Active and against resistance are more important exercises.
You may need gait training program if required.
High protein diet.
If no relief then further investigate like x ray and MRI with EMG-NCV.
