Question: Dr. Tayal, how common would it be to be able to live with a torn meniscus root which causes no pain and does not interfere with walking?

You can live with a painless torn meniscus.

Hello again,
If the torn meniscus is not causing any pain and you can do your daily activities normally then you can easily go on with a torn meniscus.
There is an increased chance of osteoarthritis and other age related degenerative changes but regular exercise will help in continuing without a surgery.
Normally a torn meniscus causes joint clicking and instability and may be painful for which surgery is needed. In case there are no symptoms then it is best to avoid the surgery.
