Does Synthroid,Alesse And Emergency Contraception Taken Together Cause Any Interaction?

Question: I am on daily dose of sythroid and took 5 pills of alesse as an emergency contraception , will the medication interact ok together ?

Brief Answer: Thyroid Detailed Answer: In general, the requirement of synthroid increases when estrogen/progesterone containing hormonal pills are taken. However this effect is significant when the contraceptive pills are taken chronically on a regular basis. So one does not expect synthroid dose changes to be made in response to a single dose of alesse. Also, synthroid is best taken with water 30 to 60 minutes before any food or other medications, to ensure it is absorbed well by the body. That being said, even if you took alesse with synthroid on that one day, it should not really matter much, as it just a one -off thing. As mentioned above, it is when such instances occur frequently over time that synthroid dose requirements increase
