Brief Answer:
Obimet not the cause if it happens only with outside food

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing in.

I have read through your query in detail.
Please find my observations below.

1. Your sugar levels of 100 fasting and 135 post prandial are normal and show good control. You might get HbA1c test done which will show blood glucose control over 3 months.

2. Having loose motions only after taking food from outside might be due to food or water contamination or anxiety.

3. Obimet contains metformin which is a medicine to reduce increased blood sugar level. Rarely obimet might cause diarrhea as a side effect but this will happen with home cooked food and outside food. If your motions are normal after eating home cooked food then it is unlikely to be due to obimet.

4. Amlodac is amlodipine which is a blood pressure medicine and unlikely to interfere in your motions.

5. Please make sure that the food you eat and water you drink outside home is from a clean and hygienic source. you should take a well balanced diabetic daily 1800 kcal diet.

Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

thank you dr chail for a detailed analysis.

my query came up from the fact that my family member do not have this problem when they eat the same outside food. does this have to do with the sugar levels or is it just that i am too sensitive as compared to others.

sorry to bother u again but i have been eating food outside till last 4 /5years back since i was leaving alone as my wife has a transferable job. i did not encounter this problem. it is just this past one year that i am facing this.

Brief Answer:
Please find details below

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing back with an update.

1. If it is happening recently then it is possible that you have just recovered from an illness (you have mentioned that were given a dose of antibiotics for stomach infection). Therefore your stomach and bowel lining needs time to get back to normal and you might take lactoballilus capsules (name Sporlac-DS) twice daily after meals. This helps in preventing loose stools and you can try it for 15 days.

2. If this is happening even after taking precautions then you are having anxiety and you are more sensitive than other people.

3. Please let me know if you have any more doubts.

Regards,
Dr.Vivek
