Does Heptral Help Cure Fatty Liver?

Question: I have been taking heptral 200 for 4 years for fatty liver. Does it protect the liver or can it reverse the condition?

I appreciate your concern

Heptral is mainly a nutritional supplement that is prescribed for protective properties w.r.t liver disease. Though extensive studies are lacking the limited literature available has shown good effect and tolerability of heptral. It improves the markers of liver injury though there is no evidence that it reverses any liver injury/ insult. It is also used in osteoarthritis, Fibromyalgia, Alzheimer's disease and depression. Though its not a first line drug in the above conditions, its given as the options for treating them are still limited.

Since its a nutritional supplement and not medication, I have been recently recommended by GNC LAC L.Pro ( a supplement which according to them reverses fatty liver.

So far Heptral did not reverse my gamma results but kept it in the slightly above average numbers.

Can I take both supplements or should I stop the heptral and give the L.Pro a go?

I would advise against taking the two together as the possible interaction would be unpredictable based on the lack of studies done with both taken in combination.

Hepatotoxic medication and alcohol should also be strictly avoided.
