Do Severe Cough And Fatigue Indicate Mesothelioma Or An Infection?

Question: I have had a productive severe cough for 8 weeks with fatigue. I have had colored sputum since the cough started. It started out green/yellow and is now yellow.. I had a CT scan today that said I have a 4mm noncalcified nodule and if I am high risk then I should have follow up. My dad was diagnosed with stage 7 mesothelioma 6 months ago and we don't know where he got it or if anyone else in the family was exposed. He is 70 and I am 52. Are my symptoms and test results more likely to be an infection or could I possibly have mesothelioma too? My dad had a cough for quite a few months before he was finally diagnosed.

Symptoms: Chronic cough x 8 weeks. Green & yellow sputum and fatigue. no fever.
Medical History: Rheumatoid arthritis and celiac. otherwise healthy

No need to worry for mesothelioma.

I can understand your concern.
Mesothelioma is malignancy of pleura (layer surrounding lung), not lung.
You are having lung nodule, not pleural nodule.
So no need to worry for mesothelioma.
Your current symptoms are more suggestive of infection.
This non Calcified nodule is mostly due to rheumatoid arthritis (RA).
