Posted on Wed, 15 Apr 2015
Question: I had sex on 5th march... It was 10 minute quick hard sex... but he pulled out before ejaculation. My periods was supposed to come on 16-17 march. I tested pregnancy test 2-3 times using preganews but tests are negative.... What could be a reason behind delayed periods... Is hard sex can postpone the period ? What should i do to ensure that i am not pregnant ?

Brief Answer:
Could be stress / mild hormonal imbalance.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for writing to us with your health concern.

Please let me know a few things.
Do you always have regular cycles ?
When was your last menstrual period ?
What is your height and weight ?

At times, menstrual delay can be caused by mild hormonal imbalance in the body. It can be triggered by - stress, anxiety, emotional turbulence, changes in your weight, unaccustomed exercise, smoking, drinking, alterations in diet or sleep patterns, hormonal pills such as emergency pill etc.

IF pregnancy is reasonably excluded, then periods can be kickstarted by taking progesterone tablets for withdrawal bleeding.

All the best

I always have regular cycle with 1 or 1.5 days of delay only. Last period was on feb 14-16.

This month period was expected till 17 th of march.

My height is 5.1 ft and i last measured weight is 49kg. I dont have any habit such as drinking, smoking.

I don't see any signs of period. Tests are still negative which i tested almost 3 times using prega news.

I was not at all prepared for the that sex it was unexpected for me so i was feeling somewhat burden after the missing period.
