Can I Switch From Qlaira To Microgynon Inspite Of Its Side Effects?

Question: Hi, I'm on microgynon mid cycle and my doctor gave me a script today for Qlaira. I'm not on the pill for contraceptive reasons but for heavy bleeding. The microgynon is giving me very bad side effects and I want to change to Qlaira straight away. Can I do this now considering I'm not using it for contraception?

Qlaira is a combined birth control pill and it can be changed from mini-pill( microgynon) to it.

Take much liquids and iron rich foods to prevent anemia.

Thank you for you answer, im on microgynon 30, i dont think that is a XXXXXXX pill but rather a combined birth control. So i would be going from a mono combined pill to Qlaira and i dont want to wait for my period i want to swap now mid cycle, this is ok?

Hi dear again.

You can continue with Qlaira after you have used microgynon for some days.
Hence you only arent protected for the next 9 days.

If you want to use it for contraception there is no need for additional contraception if you start to use Qlaira on the day after the last active tablet of a previous combined contraception pill(microgynon).
