Can Contact Lenses Be Worn When Suffering From Blepharoconjunctivitis?

default
Posted on Fri, 20 Jun 2014
Question: I have been told that I have blepharoconjunctivitis. I take one steroid drop per day, in each eye. Would it be possible for me to wear contact lenses or get Lasik with this eye problem?

Brief Answer:
Once controlled/treated you can go for LASIK.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to Health care magic

I am Dr. DADAPEER K, an Ophthalmologist and I answer health problems related to eye.

It seems from the history that you are having blepharoconjunctivitis and you are on treatment with steroid eye drops. This is not a absolute contraindication for wearing contact lenses or to undergo LASIK surgery. But in acute phase with severe symptoms wearing contact lenses and LASIK surgery is better to be avoided.
However once the blepharoconjunctivitis is controlled and treated you can undergo LASIK or you can wear contact lenses. Along with steroid eye drops lid scrubs will help in treating the blepharoconjunctivitis.

Hence I advice you to consult your doctor to assess the severity of blepharoconjunctivitis and evaluation before using contact lenses or to undergo LASIK surgery.

Hope I have answered your question and the information is helpful to you.

Thank you
