Can Warfarin Cause Heavy And Prolonged Vaginal Bleeding?
Question: I am on warfarin. My numbers say I am in menopause, but I still bleed every
Month. Sometimes one week, sometimes three!! When this all started three years ago, I had all tests done including biopsy. Everything was fine. I just keep thinking it will end!! Can it be thin vaginal wall bleeding because of warfarin? If I put a tampon in, the blood is dry (no mucous) and bright red and always just on one side. Warfarin problems?

Brief Answer:
Can be due to warfarin.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
The bleeding that you are having is likely to be due to warfarin. You need to get your coagulation profile and INR evaluated and get the doses of warfarin adjusted accordingly. Avoid taking aspirin or any pain killers as these can aggravate the bleeding.
If the hormonal tests are suggestive of menopause then the bleeding is not likely to be due to hormonal causes.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.

Brief Answer:
Repeat biopsy is needed.

Brief Answer:
Still needs to be ruled out.
Detailed Answer:
Yes. endometrial cancer is slow to develop. But it should be ruled out since you are having symptoms. The rate of progression of cancer varies from person to person.
