Can Susten Cause Uterine Prolapse?

default
Posted on Tue, 3 Jan 2017
Question: Hi ,
I am 38 week pregnant and have been taking susten 200 since 20 week. Is it needed to continue the tablet till 40th week? Also does susten 200 causes prolapse in primi? I feel a tiny mascular lump in my vagina while bathing.
I also have hyperthyroidism before I conceived and taking PTU 50 since 11 week of pregnancy. Now my thyroid is under control.

Brief Answer:
Susten can be stopped now

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
There is no role of micronised progesterone ( Susten) after 34 weeks of pregnancy. So, you can stop Susten now.
Moreover, prolapse is not a side effect of Susten in any pregnant women, whether primigravida or multigravida.
Chronic cough, asthma, chronic constipation or inherent ligament weakness are the cause of prolapse in young women.
Lump in the vagina can be prolapse , polyp, cyst or dilated veins.
You should get examined by an OBGYN specialist to confirm the diagnosis and get appropriate treatment timely.
Hope you found the answer helpful.

Thanks doctor.
I did not feel that lump till my 36th week. I was advised rest in my 8th month as baby has moved down with head fixed. I started squates walking butterfly yoga after 36th week. Suddenly I started feeling the tiny lump in my vagina. I don't feel any trouble because of it. Will it be any problem for baby or normal delivery? My EDD by LMP is 25th December 2016 . Shall I wait till my EDD to deliver the baby? Or it calls for any emergency?
