Brief Answer: Detailed answer below Detailed Answer: Hi XXXXXXX and welcome to HCM, I understand your concern. B long F is a vitamin supplement. It supports various metabolic processes in the body. However it is not the first drug of choice for PCOD. As you have benefited from its use, you may use it again. The 'F' is folic acid and is used to prevent brain defects in the baby. It is said to decrease prolactin. The dose varies from 50- 100 mg every day for pyridoxine and 5mg for folic acid. A 100 mg tablet will be enough for you. If you have polycystic ovaries, I suggest that you get a hormonal evaluation as well as an ovulation study done. If there is ovulation, no need to worry, just try to keep sexual contact during the periovulatory period on alternate days for maximum chance of pregnancy. Weight loss is a very good therapy for PCOS as it helps in restoring the hormonal mileu of the ovary and helps ovulation. Try a healthy diet consisting of sprouts and vegtables. Do not eat sugars and oils and exercise regularly to tone up the system. Other drugs used are metformin [ may be helpful in your case as you have also gained weight], Bromocriptine to decrease prolactin if it is elevated and drugs like clomiphene if there are problems with ovulation. I suggest that you discuss these issues with your gynecologist and then decide about further treatment. An investigation about hormones and ovulation will help in achieving good treatment results. Hope I was able to answer your query. Best of luck for your quest for pregnancy. Feel free to ask any more queries that you may have. Dr Madhuri Bagde

Thank you doctor.... I have been taking b long f since a week.. However, I have started feeling tightness of my abdomen after it.... Besides, my periods flow is considerably reduced. Its only for w and half days followed by spotting. I had done my thyroid n cbc.. All was good except that my hemoglobin was 11. Brief Answer: Pricking may be due to vitamin deficiency Detailed Answer: Hi XXXXXXX and welcome back, I understand that you have done your thyroid and CBC. Other hormones to be tested include prolactin, FSH and LH, and insulin to be tested on day 1 of the periods. I assume that they must be normal since you did not mention them. If they have not been tested, get them tested. A blood sugar evaluation is also needed. The tightness in abdomen may be due to gases or indigestion. B long causes nausea in some people. The hemoglobin is a bit on the lower side, but 11 and up is OK. The tingling in legs may be due to vitamin B12 and folate deficiency. This also explains the hemoglobin as deficiency of these two causes anemia. So you may start vitamin B complex tablets or supplements. Make sure it contains Vit B12 [cyanocobalamine] and folic acid or folate [already present in b long]. You will need to stop B long and take b complex vitamins as they will provide all the other b group vitamins and also help correct anemia. Eat plenty of fresh fruits and sprouts as they are rich in B vitamins. Another reason for tingling could be raised blood sugar, so check the sugar. The scanty period, if this was a one time occurrence that happened in this period only, get a pregnancy test as it may be due to pregnancy. If these have become a routine since the past few cycles, PCOD may be responsible for it. I also suggest an ovulation study as the main problem with PCOD is non ovulation and women attempting pregnancy may need ovulation inducing drugs to get pregnant in addition to drugs for hormones. Hope this helped. Please feel free to ask any more queries that you may have. Do not worry as worry delays the period and stress is an important cause of PCOD. You have had a pregnancy before, so you have excellent chances of getting pregnant again. Dr Madhuri Bagde

Brief Answer: Try B complex with lactobacilli Detailed Answer: Hi and welcome back, I suggest that you take Vizylac capsules. They have b complex and lactobacilli. They prevent Gastrointestinal upset. If you do not get this brand use any other that contains b complex with lactobacilli. Take them once a day initially and see if you are able to tolerate them. Then you may take them twice daily. Try to eat fresh fruits and vegetables to replenish your vitamins. Regarding the conversation being kept a secret. I will request the HCM team and suggest you also to contact them. I do not know about the policy that they have regarding such matters. It is unlikely that anyone will know you from this conversation. But still I will mail them but unfortunately I cannot guarantee that they will keep it a secret and remove from public domain. Still we can always try. Hope I was able to help. Thanks and I am always here to help you. Dr Madhuri
