Question: Sir,
I have been suffering form a low grade fever for last two weeks without any other symptoms except chills. I have consulted local doctors and undergone several tests and taking antibiotic medicine but still some fever is there. In pathological tests nothing is detected so far. Sir, please note that I have got this fever after four days of a dental treatment(cleaning and filling). Now I am frightened whether I got HIV infection via dental work. Now my question is how much probability is there getting HIV infection from dental work? Kindly HELP!

Brief Answer:
You are HIV negative

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question.
The risk of transmission of HIV in your scenario is zero as tooth extractions are done under aseptic conditions and there is no chance of survival of HIV over
there .
Don't worry , fever is a general symptom and can arise after any trauma (dental extraction). The cause of the fever , may be even due to viral fever which is so common during these months in our country , so it needs to be investigated thoroughly which is beyond the area of discussion. I suggest you to see a physician and get yourself treated. Rest assured you have not contracted HIV. Think for common diseases, HIV is not contracted easily and hence the name starts with 'acquired'. Be happy and consult a local physician. Hope this suffices.
Regards
