Question: CAN 3 YEAR OLD CHILD TAKE CYSTONE SYRUP FOR UTI RECURRENCE OR NEERI SYRUP... PLZ TELL ME THE DOSE... Hi.... I understand your concern. First of all I will approach to your problem by explaining you how are urinary tract infection behaves and then I will explain you how a viral illness behaves. I personally feel that your son is having recurrent viral illness and not urinary tract infection.
Symptoms of urinary tract infection - high grade fever with chills and rigors, pain in the tummy, burning sensation while passing urine, frequently passing small quantities of urine, recurrent vomiting and cloudy urine.
Symptoms of viral illness - Fever of few days without any localizing signs could as well a viral illness. Usually rather than fever, what is more important is the activity of the child, in between 2 fever episodes on the same day. If the kid is active and playing around when there is no fever, it is probably viral illness and it doesn't require antibiotics at all. Once viral fever comes it will there for 4-7 days. So do not worry about duration if the kid is active.
Now you can compare both the symptoms and decide whether your child is having a recurrent viral illness or not. One more absolute fact is that children of this age attend to get recurrent viral illness in this season. They can get fever almost 3-4 times a month.

1. Occasional calcium oxalate crystals are normal in urine routine. Do not worry about them. Unless there is a family history of kidney stones do not worry about this.

So I will not be able to suggest you on alternative system of medicine and drugs. But I can suggest you a very excellent Ayurvedic doctor who can guide you in this regard. 3. What you have heard is true - urinary tract infection can get repeated. But this is exactly the reason why I asked you whether ultrasound abdomen has been done or not. Urinary tract infection can get repeated only if there is a vesicoureteric Reflux our reflux of urine back into the ureters. To diagnose this we need ultrasound abdomen or a MCUG - micturating cysto urethrogram.
4. Please do not use baking soda for the prevention of urinary tract infection.

4. There are no specific foods to avoid. Please give him everything and especially what he likes. But do not forget to brush his teeth at night after eating.
