Detailed Answer:
hi.
thanks for posting query at HCM.

will try to answer your query in the best of my capacity.

Budesonide is a steroid that reduces inflammation in the body by decreasing the body's natural defense response (immune response). It is used to treat Crohn's disease. While budesonide does not cure the condition, it may decrease symptoms such as pain and diarrhea.

One should be cautious while taking budesonide IF the patient has presently or had:
- tuberculosis ;
- cirrhosis or other liver disease;
- stomach ulcer;
- osteoporosis
- any long term fungal infection

side effects:
- increased acne or facial hair;
- menstrual problems (in women), impotence or loss of interest in sex (in men); - variation in fat distribution in body (especially in your face, neck, back, and waist).
- Cough; Hoarseness ; Dry mouth; sore throat
- Rash
- Bad taste in mouth

( HOWEVER, NOT all side effects are necessarily experienced. varies from person to person. a person may experience NO or least side effect)

NOTE: firstly, if you would take budesonide for a long time, ask your doctor if you also need to take a PPI ( omeprazole, pantoprazole) to prevent gastric problems.
secondly, if one is to stop the medication ( budesonide) after using it for a considerable time ( weeks to months), then one should NOT stop immediately. the dose should be gradually tapered down.

A drug ( for a long period of time) is usually advised when the benefits of the drug outweigh the risk of side-effects of that particular drug. However, the patient should be observed regularly and any side effect experienced maybe discussed with the treating physician.

hope to answer your concern.

wish you good and sound health
