Ambien is not a benzodiazepine like Ativan or Xanax and will not show up in the most common urine drug screens such as the SAMHSA-5. However, Ambien or it's breakdown (metabolite) products can show up on more fine tuned tests such as gas chromatography. But with the more specific tests, they should be able to distinguish that it is Ambien and not something else, and you can then provide information from your doctor that you have a prescription for that.
I don't think it will get to that point though, because the type of drug screens most employers use are the less expensive, courser type tests, that won't pick it up at all.
